Q: When in your life have you felt closest to the Lord?
I was listening to the radio this morning and "The River" by Jordan Feliz came on, and of course I started singing along. I accidentally said 'we're going down to the valley,' instead of 'river'. It started me thinking. What's in a valley? A river!
I really love that feeling when I'm on the mountain top worshiping the Lord! I wish I could stay there forever. But, not till heaven will that happen! As Jesus said, we will have trouble in this world, (John 16:33). And honestly, the times I have felt the closest to the Lord was when I was in a valley. Times like when my first child was still born, when my dad died, any time I'm in physical pain, surgeries etc. that's when God is really holding me up.
Rivers usually begin small in the mountains, water from melted snow or rain. By the time the water has formed a river and reached a valley, the river is usually smooth and calm. Jesus is the living water, (John 4:14). So, next time you find yourself in a valley, go to the river, Jesus is near to you!
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
